Guru Purnima (Poornima) is dedicated to offering respect to all the spiritual and academic gurus. It is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Ashadha (June–July). It is also known as Vyasa Purnima, for it marks the birthday of Veda Vyasa, the sage who authored the Mahabharata and compiled the Vedas.

గురు పూర్ణిమ ఆధ్యాత్మిక మరియు విద్యా గురువులందరికీ గౌరవాన్ని అందించడానికి అంకితం చేయబడింది. ఇది ఆషాఢ మాసంలో (జూన్-జూలై) పౌర్ణమి రోజు (పూర్ణిమ) నాడు ఆచరిస్తారు. దీనిని వ్యాస పూర్ణిమ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు, ఎందుకంటే ఇది మహాభారతాన్ని రచించిన మరియు వేదాలను సంకలనం చేసిన వేదవ్యాసుని జన్మదినాన్ని సూచిస్తుంది.

The word guru is derived from the Sanskrit root words, gu and ru. Gu means darkness or ignorance, and ru means dispeller.So, a guru is the dispeller of darkness or ignorance.

గురు అనే పదం సంస్కృత మూల పదాలైన గు మరియు రు నుండి ఉద్భవించింది. గు అంటే చీకటి లేదా అజ్ఞానం, మరియు రు అంటే తొలగించేవారు. కాబట్టి, గురువు అంటే చీకటి లేదా అజ్ఞానాన్ని తొలగించేవాడు.

Veda Vyasa did yeoman service to the cause of Vedic studies by gathering all the Vedic hymns extant during his times and dividing them into four parts based on their characteristics and use in rites. He then taught them to his four chief disciples – Paila, Vaisampayana, Jaimini and Sumantu. It was this dividing and editing that earned him the honorific Vyasa (vyas = to edit, to divide). He divided the Vedas into four parts, namely Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva.

వేదవ్యాసుడు తన కాలంలో ఉన్న అన్ని వేద స్తోత్రాలను సేకరించి, వాటి లక్షణాలు మరియు ఆచారాలలో ఉపయోగించడం ఆధారంగా, వాటిని నాలుగు భాగాలుగా విభజించడం ద్వారా, వేద అధ్యయనాల కారణానికి, ఎంతో సేవ చేసారు. తరువాత వాటిని తన నలుగురు ముఖ్య శిష్యులైన పైల, వైశంపాయన, జైమిని మరియు సుమంతులకు బోధించారు. ఈ విభజన మరియు సంకలనమే ఆయనకు వ్యాసుడు (వ్యాస్ = సవరించడం, విభజించడం) అనే గౌరవాన్ని సంపాదించిపెట్టింది. వేదాలను ఋగ్, యజుర్, సామ, అధర్వ అని నాలుగు భాగాలుగా విభజించారు.

శ్రీక్రిష్ణ, దక్షిణామూర్తి, హయగ్రీవ, సరస్వతి, దత్తాత్రేయ, వాల్మీకి, వ్యాస, ఆది శంకర, రామానుజ, . . . ఇలా ఎందరో గురువులు మనకు మాత్రమే ఉన్నారు ప్రతి తరములో/ యుగములో.

Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava, Acharya Devo Bhava... that is Aryokti. Our culture says that Guru should be worshiped after mother and father who are equal to God. There is also a special Tidhi for worshiping Gurus. That is Vyasa Purnima. It is celebrated as a festival on Ashad Shuddha Poornami.

మాతృ దేవో భవ, పితృ దేవో భవ, ఆచార్య దేవోభవ... అన్నది ఆర్యోక్తి. దైవ సమానులైన తల్లి, తండ్రి తర్వాత పూజనీయమైన గురువులనూ దైవసమానంగా పూజించాలని మన సంస్కృతి చెబుతోంది. అలా గురువులను పూజించుకోవడానికి ప్రత్యేక తిధి కూడా ఉంది. అదే వ్యాస పూర్ణిమ. ఇది ఆషాఢ శుద్ధ పౌర్ణమి నాడు పండుగలా జరుపుకోబడుతుంది.

Guru is the Creator (Brahma), Guru is the Preserver(Vishnu), GuruDeva is Destroyer(Maheshwara). Guru is the absolute (singular) Lord himself, Salutations to that Sri Guru

అజ్ఞాన అంధకారాల నుంచి విజ్ఞాన, వికాసాల వైపు మనిషిని నడిపించే మహోన్నత వ్యక్తి గురువు. గురువే బ్రహ్మ, గురువే విష్ణువు, గురువే మహేశ్వరుడు. గురువు స్సాక్షాత్ పరబ్రహ్మయే, అట్టి గురువునకు నమస్కారము. గురువు అనే పదమునకు మొట్టమొదట అర్థము తెలుసుకోవాలి. బోధించువాడు కాదు గురువు, మంత్రమును ఉపదేశించువాడు కాదు గురువు. అజ్ఞానమును నిర్మూలించేవాడే గురువు.

Guru is the supreme person who leads man from the darkness of ignorance towards knowledge and development. Guru is Brahma, Guru is Vishnu, Guru is Maheswara. Salutations to the Guru Ssakshat Parabrahma. First of all, the meaning of the word Guru should be known. Guru is not one who preaches, Guru is not one who teaches mantra. Guru is the one who destroys ignorance.

Vyasa is the great-grandson of Vasishta and the grand-son of Sakti. He is the son of Paraasara and the father of Suka. I offer my obeisance to that Vyasa who is free from all defects and is a treasure of austerities (Tapas).

వశిష్ఠ మహర్షికి ముని మనుమడు, శక్తికి మనుమడు, పరాశరునకు పుత్రుడు, శుక మహర్షికి తండ్రియైన తపోనిధుడు, కల్మష రహితుడైన వ్యాసునకు నమస్కారం అని ప్రతి భారతీయుడు ప్రతినిత్యం నమస్కరించవలసిన వ్యక్తి వేదవ్యాసుడు.

Salutation to Vyas who is in the form of Vishnu and Vishnu who is in the form of Vyas and one who is the treasure house of the Vedas. Salutation to one who was born in the noble family of Vasishta. The honour of being equal to Vishnu belonged to Maharushi Vyas.

విష్ణు స్వరూపుడైన వ్యాసునికి మరియు వ్యాసుని రూపంలో ఉన్న విష్ణువుకు మరియు వేదాల నిధి అయిన వ్యాసునికి నమస్కారము. వశిష్ట వంశంలో జన్మించిన వ్యక్తికి నమస్కారం. విష్ణువుతో సమానమైన గౌరవం మహర్షి వ్యాసునికి దక్కింది.

In some parts of South India, Purnima Vrat is observed in the name of Adi Shakti. Special poojas are performed in temples on this day. Some people perform Satyanarayana vrata or pooja on Purnima.

దక్షిణ భారతదేశంలో కొన్ని ప్రాంతాల్లో పూర్ణిమ వ్రతాన్ని ఆదిశక్తి పేరిట ఆచరిస్తూంటారు. ఈ పర్వదినం సందర్భంగా ఆలయాల్లో ప్రత్యేక పూజలు నిర్వహిస్తారు. పూర్ణిమ నాడే కొంతమంది సత్యనారాయణ వ్రతాన్ని లేదా పూజను నిర్వహిస్తుంటారు.

R.S.S. It is one of the six festivals officially celebrated at the institutional level. The other five festivals are Hindu Empire Day, Makar Sankranti, Dashami, Ugadi, Rakshabandhan Mahotsav.
